Peru: Chiclayo remembers Pope Leo XIV, sends new commemorative book with messages

15:00 | Chiclayo (Lambayeque region), Sep. 3.

In a profound gesture of faith and unity, the Diocese of Chiclayo presented to Pope Leo XIV's personal secretary, Fr. Edgard Rimaycuna, two significant volumes: one book with messages written by the faithful and another containing the official letter from the priests of the diocese addressed to the Holy Father.

The presentation was made by the Bishop of Chiclayo, Monsignor Edinson Edgardo Farfan, O.S.A., who emphasized the importance of this act as a spiritual bridge linking the Chiclayo community with the Vatican.

The first of the books gathers thousands of messages that the faithful wrote during their visit to the Cathedral of Chiclayo.

According to Bishop Farfan, the volume is already entirely full, while another remains at the Cathedral entrance to continue collecting expressions of faith and gratitude to the Holy Father.

"The people of Chiclayo are moved to have a Peruvian Pope who carries our land in his heart. This book stands as a testimony to that affection and joy," said the bishop as he handed over the volumes.

In turn, Fr. Rimaycuna expressed his gratitude for the gesture and assured them that he will personally deliver this token of the Chiclayo people's love and closeness to Pope Leo XIV.

The presentation marks a historic moment for the diocese, reaffirming its bond with the Vatican and with the Supreme Pontiff, regarded as a son of its land.
