The
reported that the regions receiving the highest canon (payments for resource extraction) for hydrocarbons were Cusco (with a share of 68%), followed by Piura (16%) and Loreto (9%), between January and November 2024, according to data provided by the State-run Perupetro.
Thus, from January to November 2024, the contribution of oil and gas companies in the form of canon exceeded S/2.329 billion (over US$619 million), a 4.21% decrease compared to 2023.
In November 2024 alone, Cusco received more than S/149 million (over US$39 million, +6.5% compared to 2023). It was followed by Piura, with S/30 million (US$7.98 million, -18.3%), and Loreto, with S/18 million (US$4.79 million; +45%).
It should be noted that canon is the revenue generated by the exploitation of oil, natural gas, and condensates in the zones where natural resources are found.
