The "Peru Mucho Gusto" food fair successfully concluded its first edition in the United States, becoming a milestone for the internationalization of Peruvian cuisine after attracting 5,185 attendees over the three days of the event held in New York last weekend.

The public enjoyed the rich and diverse culinary offerings from Peru, with iconic dishes such as Ceviche, Causa (Peruvian layered potato dish with chicken or seafood), Pollo a la Brasa (Peruvian rotisserie chicken), Pan con Chicharron (Pork Crackling Sandwich), and traditional desserts like Mazamorra Morada (Purple Corn Pudding), Arroz con Leche (Rice Pudding), as well as innovative ice creams made from Peruvian fruits.

Overall, the participating restaurants reported sales exceeding US$176,000, confirming the strong demand and preference of the public—both Latin American and New Yorkers—for Peruvian cuisine.

In addition to culinary offerings, spaces dedicated to Pisco, superfoods, tourism promotion, and home décor products drew significant interest, consolidating "Peru Mucho Gusto" as a comprehensive showcase of the country’s identity and creativity.

With this successful edition, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), through the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromPeru), reaffirmed that Peruvian cuisine is not only recognized worldwide but also generates pride.

It also drives business opportunities and strengthens cultural ties with the international community.

"Peru Mucho Gusto" internationalization

The international editions of "Peru Mucho Gusto" are part of PromPeru's comprehensive strategy to promote inbound tourism, aimed at boosting travel to the South American country by highlighting its culinary offerings.

The first international edition took place at the iconic Espacio Ibercaja Delicias in Madrid, Spain, from April 11 to 13.

The next international edition is scheduled for the last half of the year in São Paulo, Brazil.
