held a meeting with Singapore's Non-resident Ambassador to Peru, Thambynathan Jasudasen in order to strengthen bilateral relations and explore new opportunities for trade and investment.
The
Peruvian government official highlighted the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between the Pacific Alliance and Singapore, in force for Peru, Chile, and Singapore since May 3, 2025, turning it into the first Associated State.
Likewise, the high-ranking official expressed her ministry's commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen collaboration between the Asian country and said economic bloc.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Teresa Mera, was held as part of the Singaporean diplomat's visit to the South American country, within the framework of a schedule of meetings with Peruvian authorities.
During the meeting, the Mincetur head also underscored that both Peru and Singapore maintain an active role in the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), made up of 12 countries that together account for 12% of the global economy.
FTA with Singapore
It is worth noting that Peru and Singapore have maintained a Free Trade Agreement in force since August 1, 2009.
In 2024, Peruvian exports to the Asian country amounted to around US$21.9 million, driven by increased sales of fruit and asparagus.
Between January and July 2025, these shipments amounted to nearly US$43 million, a 322.9% expansion compared to the same period the previous year.
Currently, Peru exports mining, agricultural, and textile products to Singapore.
Additionally, opportunities exist to expand shipments of blueberries, cacao beans, grapes, as well as cotton T-shirts and sweaters.
