The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday indicated that the signing of the State-to-State contract for technical assistance service linked to Chavimochic Project's Third Stage proves the firm commitment to Peru's agriculture sector, as well as to global feeding.

During her speech, Mrs. Boluarte explained that the confirmation of the expansion of this agricultural enhancement initiative was part of the action to unblock projects started by her administration.

"Today, this Government proves its commitment not only to national agriculture but also to international feeding; we know that we are going through a moment of food security; if we do not think about water and agriculture, and if we do not think about securing our seeds, then we are not thinking about ensuring world feeding," she stated.

The top official said she feels proud that this initiative has become a reality, which will enable thousands of hectares to be irrigated, thanks to an investment worth US$750 million.

"This will boost farming and agricultural exports and will tremendously boost the country, especially the economy in the north of the country," she stated.

Mrs. Boluarte affirmed that the development of this third phase will enable (farming) producers from Chao, Viru, Moche, and Chicama, in Peru's northern La Libertad region, to live the dream of increasing their crop hectares.

Congress

Moreover, President Boluarte thanked La Libertad Region Governor Cesar Acuña over the constant coordination to materialize the signing of the contract, as well as the good diplomatic relations with Canada.

"This Government is firm, united, and has the intention of working tirelessly for Peru, but it demands unity from its authorities. I am grateful for the democratic support by Congress; both powers are coordinated like never before; I might not have a political party (at Parliament), but I have the democratic Congress members who love Peru," she explained.
