"Peru and Malaysia strengthen their political, economic, and cooperation ties at the IV Bilateral Consultation Mechanism. The official visit of the Malaysian Prime Minister to Peru during the APEC Peru Leaders' Week 2024 this November was confirmed," the Peruvian government agency reported via social media.
Leaders' Week
The
APEC Leaders' Week 2024 —set to take place from November 9 to 16— will bring together the leaders of the 21 APEC economies in Lima.
To date, the President of China, Xi Jinping; the Head of State of Brunei, Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah; the Prime Minister of Singapore, Lawrence Wong; as well as the President of the Republic of Korea, Yoon Suk-yeol; have confirmed their participation in the upcoming event.
The President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, also confirmed his participation as a special guest in the Leaders' Week, given that his country is not part of the APEC forum.
APEC is made up of:
Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, and Vietnam.
The Peruvian Foreign Affairs Ministry estimates that 30% more attendees than expected will attend Leaders' Week.
