The
approved declaring a state of emergency in Lambayeque, Cajamarca, and Huanuco regions due to the presence of forest fires.
Thus, Lambayeque, Cajamarca, and Huanuco join Amazonas, San Martin, and Ucayali —the three regions initially declared in state of emergency due to wildfires.
"What I want to say at this moment is that our Armed Forces, the National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci), firefighters, district governments, provincial governments, regional governments, and the central government, of course, are focused on the task of extinguishing fires," Adrianzen stated.
"Fortunately, the work is yielding good results; there is greater coordination, and the figures are demonstrating success in this task," he added.
Furthermore, the Cabinet chief said that monitoring of the areas affected by forest fires continues with the presence of ministers in those regions to which they have been assigned.
"We are primarily focused on the task of extinguishing (wildfires), but rehabilitation is also necessary, and it is in that effort that we find ourselves," he emphasized.
Prime Minister Adrianzen reiterated his call on the population to cease the practice of burning grasslands in order to prevent damage to forests and, above all, the loss of human lives.
