"Today, as President of the Republic, I declare before you and the citizenry my Government's absolute respect for the separation of powers, the independence of the Judiciary, the rule of law, and the democratic institutional framework as an indispensable guarantee for preserving the Nation's freedoms and stability," Fujimori expressed.
The Head of State paid tribute to those who, with a vocation for public service, independence, sound judgment, and a profound sense of duty, bear the enormous responsibility of administering justice in Peru.
"Judges' Day invites us to recognize the fundamental role the Judiciary plays in this vital task, because being a judge is much more than practicing a legal profession; it means taking on a mission of enormous social significance," she said.
The top official noted that a judicial ruling can also be a source of reconciliation and redress, a means of providing justice for victims, as well as an instrument for building a healthy and virtuous society.
In this regard, the President recalled having experienced judicial decisions firsthand, adding that she had always responded to court summonses with respect.
"I complied with the rulings that were adverse to me, trusting that justice would ultimately be done," Fujimori expressed.
"Citizens demand swift proceedings, transparency, and an unrelenting fight against all forms of corruption," she emphasized.
The Head of State reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the judicial system by providing the resources needed to promote, for example, mobile courts that bring justice closer to the country's most remote areas.
"We will firmly support the implementation of flagrancy units, technological modernization, and the expansion of the electronic judicial case file," Fujimori said.
"I want a Peru where a mother does not have to wait years to obtain justice for her children," she added.
The Head of State concluded her speech by stating that today, Peru needs a strong democracy, committed citizens, and public servants who always act guided by a single purpose.
"On behalf of my Government and the Peruvian people, I extend my warmest greetings and recognition to all the country's judges on their day," she expressed.
During the ceremony, President Fujimori was accompanied by Judiciary Chairwoman Janet Tello and Senate Chairman Miguel Torres.
