APEC Peru 2024: Australia's PM arrives in Lima

The Prime Minister of Australia, Anthony Albanese, arrived in the Peruvian capital, Lima, this Wednesday afternoon to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum Leaders' Week.

Development and Social Inclusion Minister Julio Demartini welcomed the dignitary on behalf of the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte.

Upon his arrival at Air Group No. 8, the Australian Prime Minister received the honors befitting his high position.

Mr. Anthony Albanese arrived accompanied by an official delegation of Australian authorities.

It was reported that the Australian Prime Minister is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with President Boluarte.

He is the third dignitary to arrive in Peru today, following the arrivals of Thailand's Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra and Chinese Taipei's High Representative Lin Hsin-i.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.

APEC is made up of: Australia, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Chile, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peru, the Philippines, the Russian Federation, Singapore, Chinese Taipei, Thailand, the United States, and Viet Nam.

Together, they account for 62% of world's GDP, 48% of global trade in goods and services, plus 38% of the planet's population.
