Annual oil production averaged 44,150 barrels per day in 2025, an 8.6% increase compared with the 40,630 bpd recorded in 2024, according to the Peruvian Hydrocarbons Society (SPH), based on figures from the State-run Perupetro.

Meanwhile, oil production reached 44,280 bpd in December 2025, compared with 37,200 bpd in the same period the previous year.

Official data also indicated that the highest oil-producing blocks last year included Block 95 (Loreto region), 18,560 bpd; Block X (Piura region), 8,140 bpd; followed by Block Z-69 (also Piura), 3,360 bpd.

On the other hand, the blocks that recorded no oil production included Block 67 (Loreto) and Block Z-6 (Piura), among others.

Natural gas production

Meanwhile, natural gas production increased, rising from 1,365 million cubic feet per day (MMCFD) last November to 1,466 MMCFD in December 2025.

As a result, total natural gas production in 2025 rose to 1,445 MMCFD, compared with the 1,395 MMCFD recorded in 2024.

Lastly, the SPH reported that the blocks posting the strongest growth in natural gas production during 2025 were Block 88, with 856 MMCFD; Block 56, with 271 MMCFD; and Block 57, with 250 MMCFD—all located in Peru's southeastern Cusco region.

According to the SPH, these results underscore the need to strengthen exploration efforts, ensure a stable regulatory framework, and promote new investment to sustain production over time.

It added that only through clear rules, predictability, and a long-term vision will it be possible to consolidate the contribution of oil and natural gas to regional development, job creation, and the well-being of Peruvians.
