Peru: FA Ministry guarantees assistance to relatives of brothers murdered in U.S.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday lamented the death of two Peruvian citizens in New York City, which occurred in an incident of violence, and guaranteed assistance and support to their families.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs laments the passing of our compatriots Hector and Leider Guevara in New York," the government agency stated in a message shared via social media.

Both Peruvian nationals were killed in a violent incident that occurred in the aforementioned U.S. metropolis.

Regarding the situation following this incident, the Ministry said it is collaborating with the victims' relatives.

"Through the Consulate General of Peru in New York, assistance and guidance are being provided to their families, and the case is being followed up by the competent authorities," reads the message.


From northern Peru

Originally from the northern city of Chiclayo, the Guevara brothers had been residing in the United States for approximately three years.

Both of them worked in the construction sector. Leider had a minor son whom he was supporting with his income.

The details of the incident are still unknown.

It is only known that, after being at a festive venue with relatives, both brothers visited another place to continue their enjoyment, where they ultimately met their tragic death.
