The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) announced a new milestone for Peruvian tourism thanks to the arrival of the cruise ships "Fram" and "Roald Amundsen" at the beaches of Mancora in Piura region, northern Peru, transporting more than 250 passengers of various nationalities.

The government agency underscored that the arrival of this first group of cruise passengers at Mancora will set a precedent for diversifying the offer of Peruvian destinations in the cruise industry.

Therefore, tourism in Peru is strengthened and economic development is fostered, especially in the country's northern zone.

This first arrival of cruise passengers at Mancora will also serve as an example to motivate other international cruise companies to choose the same destination.

On Friday, October 11, the ship "Fram" arrived with 60 passengers. On Saturday, the cruise ship "Roald Amundsen" reached the area with 190 passengers. Both vessels are of Norwegian nationality.

Cruise passengers conducted activities, such as whale watching, participating in Peruvian ceviche preparation classes, as well as enjoying the beautiful beaches and warm hospitality of Piura citizens.

The next destination is the Port of Callao, where greater tourist arrivals are expected.

Mincetur has been working jointly with the Tourism Police and the General Directorate of Captaincies and Coast Guard (Dicapi), as well as with various tour operators and other stakeholders involved in consolidating this new modality of tourists' entry into the country.

This effort contributes to the reactivation of the national and local economy, generates employment, promotes the recognition of Peruvian heritage, culture, and gastronomy, plus reinforces the country's image internationally.
