Peru's trade balance reached a surplus of US$23.821 billion in 2024, higher than the figure recorded in 2023 (US$17.678 billion), the
"This figure is also 3.5 times higher than that obtained in 2019, the pre-pandemic year," the issuing body underlined.
The BCR stated that exports grew 12.4% in 2024 compared to 2023 and totaled US$75.916 billion, exceeding the figure recorded in previous years.
"Both traditional and non-traditional product sales abroad registered higher values than in previous years," the institution underlined.
Likewise, the BCR indicated that imports reached US$52.095 billion in 2024, an amount 4.5% higher compared to 2023.
In monthly terms, a trade surplus of US$2.333 billion was recorded in December 2024, US$87 million greater than that achieved in the same month of 2023.
The shipped value amounted to US$6.986 billion in December, up 9.2% from the same month of the previous year, due to the increase in average export prices (+9.4%), in line with high international metal prices.
Lastly, the BCR indicated that imports increased by 12.1% year-on-year to US$4.653 billion in December, explained by higher levels in all categories, mainly in industrial inputs and durable consumer goods.
