on Tuesday called on the country's business leaders to be "a single fist against crime and delinquency" by investing in 47 projects under the "Works for Taxes – Alliance for Security" portfolio, with a total amount of S/1.6 billion (US$439 million).
"We are aware of your commitment to the country, and call on you to be a single fist against delinquency and crime by investing in any of the 47 projects—ideally, in all of them," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
Among the projects portfolio, she mentioned the construction of a new prison in Cusco region, the expansion and improvement of Challapalca Prison (Tacna region), the modernization of Lurigancho Prison infrastructure (Lima), the implementation of the maximum-security block at Ancon I Prison (Lima), and the enhancement of the security system in strategic prisons.
The top official highlighted the construction of police stations in critical areas, the acquisition of technological equipment for criminal investigations, the implementation of video surveillance, the deployment of citizen security systems in regions, the acquisition of patrol cars and motorcycles, the establishment of Serenazgo (municipal police) operational bases, and the training of citizen security personnel.
"Everything contributes to building a safer Peru; besides, the public and private sectors can and must come together to achieve it (this goal). This is not the first time we have done so; since December 7, 2022, we have walked this path together, and the results are there," she indicated.
The Head of State explained that these projects are carried out under the Works for Taxes scheme, which ensures transparency and will help advance the fight against criminality.
Mrs. Boluarte also said that, during 2024 and so far in 2025, the government has dealt decisive blows to crime by capturing gangs and criminal organizations, which have been transferred to Challapalca Prison.
Alliance for Security
"There is still much left to strengthen, which is why we are launching the Alliance for Security, to work united for security. This is key to continuing the direct fight against these despicable criminals," the President noted.
The top official stated that the results achieved during her administration, which -she said- surpass those of previous governments, will soon be presented.
Furthermore, the President praised the public for understanding that acts of violence, road blockades, or strikes are not the way to seek change in the country.
"Let us continue advancing on the path of generating confidence in the world so that more investments can come to the country, while also giving confidence to national investors so they stay. Peace, calm, and determination depend on all of us," Mrs. Boluarte stated.
Moreover, she reaffirmed her proposal for the death penalty for hitmen and other criminals who take the lives of fellow citizens, urging the political class to seriously debate this possibility.
President Boluarte led the presentation of the Works for Taxes – Alliance for Security projects portfolio at the Government Palace in Lima, an event attended by State ministers and business leaders.
