The
reported significant increases in the production of gold (9.7%), silver (16%), lead (8.4%), iron (1.1%), tin (39.5%), and molybdenum (30.8%) from January to September 2024 compared to the same period last year.
Likewise, metallic mining production of three of the eight main metals showed increase compared to the previous month, as was the case of gold (3.2%), iron (5.6%), and molybdenum (12.8%).
National gold production accumulated through the ninth month of this year registered a 9.7% growth compared to the same period in 2023.
At the mining holder level, Minera Yanacocha (Yanacocha Mining Company) remained the leading producer of the precious metal, accounting for 10.3% of its contribution in Peru.
Meanwhile, cumulative silver production saw a 16% increase compared to 2023 due to production levels at Compañia de Minas Buenaventura (Buenaventura Mining Company).
As for the cumulative national iron production, a 1.1% increase was recorded compared to the same term of the previous year.
Shougang Hierro Peru remained the leading producer of this metal, with a solid share (98.5%).
Lastly, the Minem statistical document indicated that cumulative tin production through September 2024 saw a 39.5% increase compared to the similar period in 2023.
Similarly, molybdenum production grew by 30.8% compared to the figure reported in the same term of 2023.
