APEC Peru 2024 SOM Chair, Ambassador Carlos Vasquez, presented the results report of the Peruvian Presidency, which received unanimous support during APEC Informal Senior Officials' Meeting (ISOM) held in Seoul from December 9 to 11.

Representatives of the forum member economies deemed 2024 as a historic and exceptional year due to the consensus on the adoption of 20 documents that grant renewed impetus to the APEC agenda.

At the APEC plenary meeting in South Korea, China's senior official considered the approvals at APEC Peru 2024 of the Lima Roadmap to Promote the Transition to the Formal and Global Economies (2025-2040), as well as the Machu Picchu Declaration and the Ichma Statement, as historic achievements.

In turn, Canada's representative to APEC, Alan Bowman, underscored that the APEC Peru 2024 Presidency leaves the forum with an important legacy characterized by the recovery of consensus, as well as the achievement of tangible progress on the issues of inclusiveness and sustainable development.

Likewise, Peru's Senior Official for APEC, Minister Renato Reyes Tagle, considered that the documents adopted during APEC Peru 2024 will begin a new era in the economic and technical cooperation agenda across the Asia-Pacific.

Peruvian Agenda

During APEC Peru 2024, the host economy reached consensus for the approval of technical documents related to economic formalization, the empowerment of people with disabilities, the use of clean hydrogen, a new look at the Asia-Pacific trade architecture, as well as principles to prevent and reduce food loss and waste, among others.

Peru hosted more than 280 forum meetings, including 11 ministerial-level gatherings.

The Economic Leaders' Week —held in Lima from November 9 to 16— stood out. It brought together the vast majority of leaders from the world's 21 most dynamic economies.

The Republic of Korea will hold the forum's Presidency in 2025.

As is known, Peru hosted APEC for the third time in 2024 after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
