The Presidency of the Republic on Tuesday reiterated its commitment to continue building a Peru with more opportunities, equality, and inclusion, within the framework of the observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

This message was shared via an official post on the X platform.

"On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we reiterate our commitment to continue building a Peru with opportunities, more egalitarian and inclusive for all," it stated.

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities —observed every December 3— was declared in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly through Resolution 47/3.

The aim is to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, as well as to raise awareness of their situation in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

Building on many years of work by the United Nations in the area of disabilities, the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities —adopted in 2006— has further advanced the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
