Remittances sent by Peruvian workers abroad totaled $4.945 billion in 2024, representing an 11.2% increase compared to the previous year (US$4.446 billion), the Central Reserve Bank (BCR) reported.

Likewise, the institution stated that this amount was equivalent to 1.7% of GDP, a figure slightly similar to that of the previous year.

On a quarterly basis, remittances from Peruvian workers abroad reached US$1.280 billion in the fourth quarter of 2024, a 6% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the BCR, this growth was driven by the recovery of employment in the United States, the main source of remittances to Peru.
