the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation that will allow for the articulation of efforts by both countries to promote and develop initiatives featuring renewable energy, electric mobility, efficiency, and energy management.

METI's head Saito Ken to whom he indicated that Peru's participation at the international event
"Latam-Japan Hydrogen Workshop 2024," held in Tokyo, has been highly productive and enables important conclusions to be drawn, as it included field visits to research centers and production plants in various Japanese areas.
"It has been very productive in terms of acquiring knowledge and best practices regarding the hydrogen industry and its various denominations; similarly, addressing topics, such as energy transition and decarbonization, has raised awareness of the enormous challenges we face ahead," he affirmed.
The minister stated that Japanese cooperation will be very important so that Peru can advance in the use of electricity generation with solar, wind, geothermal sources, among others, in addition to promoting the use of energy storage, smart networks, and integration technologies of renewable energies.
Moreover, Mucho expressed his interest in promoting joint initiatives aimed at maximizing the use of renewable energy, hydrogen in all its variants, ammonia and derivatives, such as e-fuel, so as to foster opportunities and accelerate investment in clean and renewable energies.
"Our country has high potential in (terms of) renewable resources. There are 900 gigawatts of solar energy, 22 gigawatts of wind energy, 70 gigawatts of hydroelectric power, 3 gigawatts of geothermal energy, among others, to enhance our long-term energy security, within the framework of an energy transition towards clean energies," he pointed out.
The Minem head noted that there are great opportunities for the economies of Peru and Japan to complement each other.
He added that this partnership will be strengthened through a cooperation memorandum, within the framework of friendship that has existed between both nations for over 150 years.
