Gov't wishes success to Peru's para-athletes at 2024 Paralympic Games

The Government on Wednesday praised and wished success to the Peruvian para-athletes who will start their participation at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games held in France.

"Your determination and courage are our inspiration! We wish our 13 para-athletes the greatest success in carrying the name of Peru to the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. We are with you every step of the way to victory!" the Presidential Office expressed on the X platform.

As is known, 13 para-athletes have qualified for this world mega-sporting event taking place on the European continent.

They are Angelica Espinoza, a para-taekwondo athlete who won a gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games in the 49 kg category; boxer Niurka Callupe, two-time world champion in the BC3 category; para-badminton players Pilar Jauregui (Pan American WH2 two-time champion), Giuliana Poveda and Rubi Fernandez, Pan American SH6 medalists.

The delegation is also composed of T11 para-athletes Rosbil Guillen and Neri Mamanipara-swimmers Dunia Felices and Rodrigo Santillan, S5 and S2 categories; para-shooter Jorge Arcela, Pan American medalist with SH1 rifle in Lima 2019 and Santiago 2023.

The list is completed with W2 para-archer Daniela Campos; para-weightlifter Diego Quispe (57kg category); and para-cyclist Israel Hilario, who will be competing in such Games for the third time.

The Peruvian Paralympic delegation will participate in the Paris 2024 Summer Paralympic Games from August 28 to September 8.
