Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer underlined that his administration has the challenge of realizing the broad expectations regarding APEC Peru 2024 in order to make the benefits tangible for citizens and consolidate our geopolitical outreach in the Asia-Pacific region.

The diplomat announced that, within the framework of APEC Leaders' Week 2024, State visits will be made by Brunei Darussalam and the People's Republic of China.

Likewise, official visits will be conducted by South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, among others.

These meetings will strengthen our bilateral relations with these economies.

He also indicated that Peru will seek approval by consensus of the APEC Leaders' Declaration and the "Lima Roadmap to promote the transition to the formal and global economy."

Remarks were made during his participation at Congress' Foreign Affairs Commission on September 9.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
