It's official. The opening of the
will take place on January 29, 2025, starting at 6:00 a.m. (local time).
"This will involve a transfer process that will begin at 00:00 hours on January 29 and will last for 6 hours as a process of transit from the current airport to the new one," Perez Reyes indicated.
According to the government official, this time was chosen for the transfer of operations, as it is when the terminal registers the lowest number of flights.
In turn, the LAP general manager said that the rescheduling of the new airport's opening date is "within the terms of the concession contract" signed with the Peruvian State.
"We are in a process of ongoing conversation with the ministry because, obviously, launching an airport like Jorge Chavez is a complex task that requires a great deal of constant coordination," Salmon said.
He also stated that "efforts will not be eased" to complete the project; on the contrary, work will be intensified to ensure a safe and efficient transfer from the old terminal to the new one, in addition to establishing a new airport that becomes a "business, service, and transit hub in the region."
