The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday stated that the Government is committed to the development of all Peruvian regions through public works that benefit the population.

From Abancay, where Mrs. Boluarte participated in the cornerstone-laying ceremony for a penitentiary facility, she said that no jurisdiction should be forgotten again, as happened with Apurimac.

"From the Government, we will continue to support all regions of Peru, (...) like our (Apurimac) region, which was always forgotten by all former presidents and seen as a region that did not need development. I could not maintain that perspective," she expressed.

In this regard, the top official specified that hospitals construction in Abancay is being promoted, with the aim of continuing to seek the progress of Apurimac families and its seven provinces.

"Today, I reaffirm my commitment, laying this first stone after a beautiful ancestral ceremony. We will continue working tirelessly until the last minute in 2026, when we will courageously hand over the presidential sash to the new president," she stated.

The Head of State said that her government is making a pact with the nation, as during her administration, projects that had been halted for many years were promoted.

In this regard, she recalled that the Comptroller's Office reported that there are over 2,000 stalled public works from previous administrations.

"That is why, from Abancay, I say to the Comptroller General and the Judiciary Chairwoman, let's meet and set up a working table to unblock those over 2,000 projects and deliver them to all of Peru," Mrs. Boluarte said.

Regarding the construction of the penitentiary establishment in Abancay, she stated that it involves an investment of S/116 million (US$31.24 million). It will feature 702 accommodation units, 84 of which will be for women.

Mrs. Boluarte also noted that this prison will have a double significance, as it will include educational workshops to resocialize the inmates.
