Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen explained that the monitoring of the commitments assumed by the Peruvian Government at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Peru last year and during bilateral meetings will be carried out through a multi-sectoral commission made up of ministers and deputy ministers.

The high-ranking official said this is being done to ensure that these agreements contribute to improving Peruvian citizens' quality of life.

The Executive Branch has started implementing follow-up mechanisms to make sure the ministries involved carry out the 70 agreements signed during the event held in November last year.

"We will try to ensure that commitments become a reality and, of course, that their benefits reach out to our populations," he stated on Thursday.

The mechanisms were presented during a working meeting held at the Ministry of Affairs Ministry. It was led by Cabinet Chief Adrianzen and Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer.

This event was attended by Ministers Daniel Maurate (Labor-Employment Promotion), Sergio Gonzalez (Production), Angela Hernandez (Women-Vulnerable Populations), and Fabricio Valencia (Culture), as well as Deputy Ministers of State.

Prime Minister Adrianzen announced that a technical meeting will be held on January 22. At the upcoming event, specialists will define roadmaps for monitoring agreements, which will positively impact education, communications, road infrastructure, technologies, and governance.

"National interests and the main needs of the population can be met through the fulfillment of commitments," he added.

Agreements

The Cabinet chief also recalled that during the APEC forum, the highest political and business leaders from the Asia-Pacific region were brought together, two state visits and five official visits were received, and four bilateral meetings were held.

In addition, important technical-political instruments were promoted, such as the Machu Picchu Declaration by APEC 2024 leaders, the Lima Roadmap to Promote the Transition to the Formal and Global Economies, and the Ichma Statement on A New Look at the Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific Agenda.

"We have the responsibility to ensure that these agreements bring the achievements we are hoping for. Therefore, these follow-up mechanisms mean an opportunity to advance each of the wishes expressed bilaterally and within the framework of APEC," he concluded.

As is known, Peru hosted APEC for the third time in 2024 after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
