Daytime temperatures in Lima could surpass 31°C by mid-summer 2025, which officially begins this Saturday, December 21, at 4:21 a.m., according to the National Meteorology and Hydrology Service (Senamhi) of Peru.
In a press conference, Senamhi spokepersons did not rule out warm days or nights, as well as episodes of heat waves, similar to those experienced in the capital during the previous summer.
Occasional rainfall during this period is also possible, often occurring when clouds formed during the rainy season in the Andes are carried to the coastal skies by the wind.
At the beginning of the summer season, Lima is expected to experience cloudy or overcast skies in the early mornings transitioning to sunny afternoons. This pattern has been observed in the capital in recent days.
Temperatures by District
In western Lima and districts near the coast, summer 2025 temperatures will range from 21°C at night to 28°C during the day. In eastern Lima, temperatures will range from 19°C at night to 30°C during the day, Senamhi added.
UV Radiation
Ultraviolet radiation levels throughout the country will range from “high” to “extremely high.” Along the coast, monthly average UV Index levels will range between 7 and 14, with maximum values fluctuating between 8 and 15.
In the Andean region, monthly UV Index averages will range from 10 to 15, with maximum values between 11 and 19. In the Amazon, monthly UV Index levels will range from 8 to 12, with maximum values between 9 and 14.
