Peru's President to attend 80th UN General Assembly and hold bilateral meetings

In order to position Peru as a committed actor in peace and sustainable development, and to strengthen the country’s image as a reliable and attractive partner, President Dina Boluarte will participate in the United Nations General Assembly held in New York, United States, from September 21 to 25.

Moreover, during the global event, the Head of State will carry out a working agenda that includes bilateral meetings with authorities from other countries and with businesspeople interested in investing in Peru.

September 22

On Monday morning, the top official will participate in the high-level meeting to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.

The session will focus on the significance and relevance of the United Nations Charter and its role in addressing common global challenges.

Subsequently, the President will attend the high-level meeting for the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women.

There, she will deliver a speech aimed at promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

The Head of State will then attend a meeting of Ibero-American businesspeople, organized by the Adam Smith Center for Economic Freedom and the Ibero-American Business Alliance Council (CEAPI).

At the event, Peru's strengths for investment will be highlighted.

In the afternoon, Mrs. Boluarte will hold a meeting with ambassadors and a remote briefing with Prime Minister Eduardo Arana.

In the evening, she will attend the closing of the high-level meeting for the 30th anniversary of the Fourth World Conference on Women and the working dinner of the 
United Nations General Assembly Platform of Women Leaders.

September 23

On Tuesday, as her first activity, the President of Peru will arrive at the UN headquarters, where she will deliver a formal greeting to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and participate in the General Debate.

In this address, the Head of State aims to position Peru as a committed actor in peace, sustainable development, and human dignity, promoting the adoption of fairer and more equitable global policies for the benefit of humanity, especially the most vulnerable.

The speech will also allow Peru to reaffirm its commitment to the pillars of the UN, as well as to present national policies and international initiatives promoted by Peru to fulfill the organization’s purposes and principles.

In the afternoon, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Belgium, Bart De Wever, and a remote briefing with the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

Additionally, the top official will attend the reception hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump for the heads of delegations to the UN General Assembly.

September 24

On the third day of activities, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres

During the session, she will reaffirm Peru's commitment to multilateralism, the United Nations System, and the initiative for the UN's reform and modernization.

Afterwards, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, whose country has maintained a strong diplomatic relationship with Peru for 50 years.

In the afternoon, she will attend a special high-level event on climate action.

There, she will highlight Peru's efforts to protect the environment and biodiversity, as well as its commitment to the Paris Agreement.

Afterwards, she will attend a working meeting organized by the 
Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA).

At the event, she will present the advantages and investment opportunities Peru offers, strengthening the country's image as a reliable and attractive partner for investment.
