As part of bilateral security cooperation efforts, the U.S. Government facilitated Peru's participation as an observer in the
West Virginia National Guard (WVNG) "Best Warrior" competition, held for the first time outside the United States, in Qatar.
This event brings together elite soldiers to test their endurance, tactical skills, and ability to operate in challenging environments.
The
"Best Warrior" competition is held annually in the United States and is considered one of the most demanding tests for members of the National Guard and the Army, designed to assess the best soldiers across multiple disciplines.
The
U.S. Government facilitated Peru's participation in this initiative for the first time by including two members of the Peruvian Armed Forces.
This event marked a key step in Peru's preparation for the 2026 edition of "Best Warrior" in West Virginia.
During their stay, they held meetings with Qatari military leaders to explore future joint training opportunities, consolidating opportunities for a trilateral relationship among Peru, Qatar, and the United States.
Amid nearly 200 years of diplomatic relations between the United States and Peru, the West Virginia National Guard (WVNG) and the Peruvian Armed Forces share nearly 30 years of cooperation, reinforcing the commitment to security and building partnerships that benefit both nations.
