The Judiciary sentenced Venezuelan Sergio Tarache Parra to 26 years in prison, who accepted his guilt for the crime of aggravated femicide against his ex-partner, Peruvian Katherine Gomez, whom he burned alive last year.

Via social media on Thursday afternoon, the Judiciary stated that the sentence was imposed by the Second Permanent Collegiate Criminal Court of Lima.

As is known, Tarache —a native of Carabobo, Venezuela— doused the 18-year-old woman from Peru's Callao region with gasoline and then set fire to her near Plaza Dos de Mayo (May 2nd Roundabout) in Lima on March 18, 2023.

Six days later, Gomez lost her life due to serious burns on her body.
