Peruvian Production Minister Sergio Gonzalez, along with the APEC delegation, made a technical visit to the facilities of the Forestry Center for Productive Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITEforestal) in the city of Pucallpa, where they were able to appreciate the "Forestry Technology Hall" —a space dedicated to showcasing technology and innovative processes in the wood value chain.

"Delegates from various world economies present at APEC 2024 can get to know first-hand the advanced methods we use through CITEforestal for proper timber production, as well as the technology transfer and innovation services offered to MSMEs," Minister Gonzalez said.

"Thus, we hope to reach more than 4,300 services provided by the end of the year," he added.

During the tour of the various rooms where remote sensing equipment and cutting-edge drones were showcased, Minister Gonzalez stated that the Government is committed to ensuring the necessary improvements to strengthen the work of SMEs and entrepreneurs. Proof of this commitment is the advanced technology that CITEforestal Pucallpa features.

The Production Ministry head underscored that Ucayali region also hosts Pucallpa's Amazonian Fishery Center for Productive Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITEpesquero), which is projected to serve more than 330 clients through approximately 638 technological services.

As part of this visit, a presentation of innovative products developed by CITEpesquero was also held, where those present were able to see value-added products marketed in various national markets. These included: Paiche (fish) cabanossi, paiche flakes, ice cream enriched with paiche pulp, smoked paiche fillet (similar to cecina), smoked paiche chorizo, and paiche-enriched panettone, among others.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
