The President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, Luong Cuong, arrived in Lima, Peru, on Tuesday afternoon for an official visit and to participate in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders' Week.

Transportation and Communications Minister Raul Perez Reyes welcomed the Vietnamese dignitary on behalf of President Dina Boluarte.

During his official visit, both heads of state, accompanied by their delegations, will review main topics on the bilateral and global agenda.

They will also explore cooperation potential in various areas such as trade and investment, agriculture, tourism, digital transformation, renewable energy, telecommunications, and combating transnational organized crime.

Viet Nam's high-ranking representative is the second to arrive in Peru to participate in APEC Leaders' Week, currently being held in Lima.

This event brings together leaders from the world's leading economies to discuss and coordinate strategies for economic development, trade, and regional cooperation.

It is the first time a Vietnamese president has made an official visit to Peru, the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported.

Peru is hosting APEC for the third time after the 2008 and 2016 editions.
