conferred the Order of the Sun in the Rank of Grand Cross to Palestinian Ambassador to Peru, Walid Muaqqat, in recognition of his outstanding efforts in developing and strengthening bilateral relations.
It is worth mentioning that Peru decided to recognize Palestine as an independent and sovereign state in 2011.
That same year, the Peruvian-Palestinian Parliamentary Friendship League was established, with the aim of fostering greater rapprochement between the two countries.
In 2021, the Peruvian Government and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine, Walid Ibrahim Muaqqat, signed the Technical Cooperation Agreement between Peru and Palestine, which will promote mutual collaboration to overcome gaps towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Foreign Affairs Ministries of both countries regarding cooperation in the registration and archiving of treaties and other international instruments.
