The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Thursday morning supervised the cleaning and desilting works on the banks of Rimac River in the Carapongo area, Lima's Lurigancho – Chosica district.
Housing, Construction, and Sanitation Minister Durich Whittembury and National Civil Defense Institute (Indeci) Chief Juan Carlos Urcariegui also participated in this event.
The Head of State is currently touring on foot the area being worked on by the local municipality using front-end loaders in order to prevent flooding due to heavy rains.
The purpose of these interventions is to ensure that the population of Carapongo and its surroundings is not affected by the growth of the Rimac River's course.
These works began at the end of November 2024 and are 90% complete, so they are expected to be completed in the next few days.
