On the first day of his working visit to Washington, D.C.,
Peru's Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Elmer Schialer, held a fruitful meeting with
Republican Congressman Brian Mast, who will assume the chairmanship of the
House of Representatives' Foreign Affairs Committee on January 3, 2025.
During their meeting at the
U.S. Capitol,
both officials discussed the excellent state of bilateral relations, as well as the geopolitical importance of Peru as a strategic partner in the Western Hemisphere.
Minister Schialer reaffirmed Peru's commitment to continuing to promote the positive relationship with the United States, focused on mutual benefit, security, regional affairs, migration, investments, and trade.
In turn,
Congressman Mast declared himself a friend of Peru, as well as an enthusiast of Peruvian cuisine and culture, while pledging to continue working to strengthen the U.S.-Peruvian agenda.
The Foreign Affairs Minister traveled to Washington, D.C. to hold working meetings with advisors to the transition team of the elected government of that country, as well as with members of the Congressional Caucus on Peru of the U.S. House of Representatives.
