Peru's CCFFAA strikes drug trafficking: Major drug shipment destroyed in Ayacucho

The Joint Command of the Armed Forces (CCFFAA) dealt a new blow to drug trafficking in Ayacucho region, following a successful combined operation against narcotics carried out by the Special Command of the Valley of Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro Rivers (VRAEM Special Command), through the 2nd Infantry Brigade (Counter-Terrorist Battalion No. 34) and the Peruvian National Police.

As a result of the intervention, 120 kg of cocaine sulphate, 2,300 kg of coca leaves in maceration process, 540 kg of chemical inputs used to produce the drug, and a clandestine laboratory were destroyed and incinerated.


This operation took place in the vicinity of Chontabamba population center, Samugari district, Ayacucho region, as part of the intense efforts by law enforcement to eradicate the illegal activity in this area of the country.

The VRAEM Special Command, among other entrusted missions, also aims to restore security and internal order in the Valleys of Apurimac, Ene, Mantaro, and Urubamba Rivers.
