The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as part of its commitment to providing ongoing support to fellow citizens abroad, reminds the Peruvian community in the United States of America that useful information and recommendations can be found in the immigration information guide available on its institutional website.

The guide, titled "¿Qué hacer si eres detenido en EE. UU.?" (What to Do If You Are Detained in the U.S.?), includes virtual presentations that consular offices periodically deliver to the Peruvian community in the North American country.

It contains valuable guidance and information for the various cases or situations they face, such as detention or handover to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office (CBP), or the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The talks given by specialists offer free-of-charge guidance and answer questions about preparations for possible deportations, arrests, or raids, such as: What to Do If ICE Knocks on Your Door?, Understanding the Deportation Order, What to Do in a Vulnerable Situation?, What Should the Emergency Plan Be?, and What to Do After a Detention?

The Spanish-language guide also includes emergency contacts for the 16 Peruvian Consulates General located in the United States.

In light of the new immigration policies, which include expedited deportation measures, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, via its consular offices and its Embassy in Washington, D.C., is working to protect the rights of fellow citizens through ongoing contact with U.S. authorities.
