Peru: PM highlights 2024 tourism record, 3.2 million international visitors

Prime Minister Gustavo Adrianzen on Friday highlighted the record achieved in inbound tourism last year, with the arrival of 3.2 million international tourists.

"Tourism Record! In 2024, inbound tourism in Peru saw a 29% growth compared to the previous year," he wrote on his social media account.

The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) reported that the 29% growth represents an additional flow of 732,000 tourists, demonstrating a solid recovery of 74.5% compared to pre-pandemic tourism levels reached in 2019.

The government agency also noted that several countries sending tourists to Peru have surpassed pre-pandemic levels.

Bolivia (0.1%), Costa Rica (15.3%), Poland (20.4%), the Dominican Republic (46.2%), Guatemala (38.4%), and India (14.2%), among others, stood out in this sense.

In terms of regional blocs, South America led in tourist arrivals, accounting for 51.6% of the total with 1,678,963 international tourists. It was followed by North America, with 24% (783,000 tourists), Europe 16.6% (540,000 tourists), and Asia 4% (129,000 tourists).
