The
urged ensuring respect for judicial independence and refraining from any interference that could weaken the rule of law.

Similarly,
the UN official expressed concern over the recent formalization of the immediate disciplinary procedure by the National Justice Board (JNJ) against Judiciary Chairwoman, Janet Tello Gilardi, and four Supreme Court judges.
"This disciplinary procedure, reserved for flagrant or notoriously irregular serious offenses, appears to be based on an alleged improper application of a repealed regulation —one that was not even cited in the challenged ruling," she stated on social media.

the UN Rapporteur urged the Government of Peru and the National Justice Board (JNJ) to ensure respect for judicial independence and to refrain from any interference that could weaken the rule of law.
Additionally, she expressed concern over the broader pattern of attacks on judicial independence, including legal reforms, constitutional accusations, and direct attacks against judicial and electoral authorities.
Regarding the above, Satterthwaite recalled that she expressed her concerns in communications sent in November 2024 and September 2023.
"International standards require that judicial decisions be respected and that judges be able to perform their duties without fear of retaliation," the post indicated.
