President Dina Boluarte on Tuesday flew over the critical points of Rimac River and supervised the progress of desilting work in the Praderas sector, Lima's Lurigancho district, as a precaution against possible emergencies.

The Head of State was accompanied by Cabinet Chief Gustavo Adrianzen and Defense Minister Walter Astudillo on this occasion.

At the event, President Boluarte stated that her Government is prepared to handle emergencies caused by heavy rains in various parts of the country throughout 2025.

The Head of State added that her administration has the necessary logistics to address any emergencies.

"The Government's interest is to protect our population, especially now in the southern part of Peru where the rains are intense. The Coastal El Niño (phenomenon) will certainly enter the north, though we are told it will be moderate in the coming years. However, we have taken precautions, as in the north we have supplies such as food, tents, etc. (…)," she expressed.
