on Tuesday stated that more than S/14 billion (over US$3.8 billion) has been allocated this year for investment in hospital care and health services, a figure demonstrating that health is a right and one of the fundamental pillars of the government's general policy.
"With political will, determination, and funding, we are revolutionizing the health system, putting it at the service of every Peruvian. Never before in our country's history has such a significant budget been invested in public health," she expressed.
The Head of State emphasized that a nation's true greatness is not measured solely by its material wealth but also by its ability to care for and protect those who need it most.
During the signing of the addendum to the State-to-State contract for the Manuel Nuñez Butron Regional Hospital in Puno, President Boluarte highlighted that this project will directly benefit over one million Peruvians in the southern region, granting them access to quality healthcare services.
The construction of this modern hospital in Puno, she stated, will be carried out through a State-to-State contract model, ensuring that the hospital meets international standards in infrastructure and is equipped with cutting-edge technology.
"We know that the southern regions of Peru have always been neglected by previous administrations. That neglect, which turns into social injustice, has often been exploited by some politicians with words that remain just that: words," she asserted.
In this context, the top official stressed that with the signing of this addendum, her government reaffirms its commitment to Puno, to the health of all its citizens, and to reducing healthcare disparities.
"We cannot ignore the overcrowded hospitals, full of patients waiting to be treated. This is not the fault of this government or the Minister of Health; it is because these gaps were historically neglected," she noted.
Similarly, the President pointed out that even if more hospitals were built in every region, as her government is doing, it would still not be enough. Therefore, unity and social peace are necessary to ensure the country's continued growth and development.
Mrs. Boluarte stated that for the government, the most urgent needs are hospitals, primary healthcare centers, more schools, roads, better connectivity, and a better quality of life through increased employment opportunities.
"When I assumed this responsibility, in fulfillment of the constitutional mandate, I did not come filled with hatred, revenge, or political calculations. I came with my heart in my hands, ready to work without distinction for all of our compatriots, for the more than 34 million Peruvians," she concluded.
