President Dina Boluarte on Wednesday called for unity and indicated that it is crucial to "be one fist" in order to defeat crime. Similarly, the Head of State emphasized that her government will not cease in its efforts to combat crime.

During the delivery of 620 self-contained breathing apparatuses to firefighters, the top official stated that "there is no room for lies, empty promises, or false hopes" in her administration.

The president reaffirmed that her government is strongly committed to the progress and security of all Peruvians.

In this regard, she conveyed her solidarity with the citizens who are observing a strike.

"Today, several brothers and sisters are observing a strike. We stand in solidarity with their concern for a safer Peru, and we tell them that we will not cease in our efforts to combat crime through intelligence actions and operations by the Peruvian National Police," Mrs. Boluarte expressed.

"Day by day, more criminals, who have made extortion their way of life, are being captured, and soon their leaders, both national and foreign, will also be brought to justice, to the relief of housewives, students, workers (…)," she stated.

The top official said the government is still on the trail of the criminals who cause so much harm to families and security "and we will catch them soon."

However, she emphasized the importance of standing together as one fist to put an end to crime, without divisiveness.

"At this crucial moment, it is up to all of us to stand together as one fist to defeat crime. Let us not follow the echo of hatred or divisiveness; let us echo unity, the unity that we so desperately need to continue moving forward," she pointed out.
