Supported by inclusion and national unity, the great objectives demanded by Peruvians as a whole will be achieved, President Dina Boluarte said Tuesday during the inauguration of the 12th Social Inclusion Week in Lima.

"It is up to all of us to work together, without divisiveness, to achieve a more just and equitable country; but, above all, one that has the goal of building a homeland with development and security," she expressed.

The Head of State stated that without inclusion, there is no development that includes Peruvians, especially those belonging to the most vulnerable sectors.

Therefore, the top official renewed her administration's commitment to continue working firmly, without distractions, to reduce poverty and inequality, because -she said- this is the path that will lead to the country's progress.

The president recalled that in 2023, the National Policy for Development and Social Inclusion Towards 2031 was approved -a document for the coordination of the different government sectors to support Peruvians at all stages of their lives.

Mrs. Boluarte explained that the Social Inclusion Policy emphasizes the multidimensional understanding of poverty, beyond economic indicators, and comprehensively addresses the population’s economic needs, intervening on different fronts, such as health, education, housing, and road connectivity.

The president also stated that 2024 marked a milestone in the Pension 65 Program by incorporating over 200,000 older adults, a historic increase that enables it to serve more than 900,000 citizens currently.

In turn, she said, the Juntos (Together) Program serves more than 120,000 households with pregnant women and newborns, 64% of whom have access to an integrated package of health services that includes vaccines, iron supplements, and hemoglobin testing.

"In 2024, we are serving 2.7 million people through community kitchens, soup kitchens, and the Glass of Milk Program," Mrs. Boluarte noted.

"After almost 20 years, we have improved the rations at the soup kitchens by incorporating new products and increasing the nutritional value, and after 11 years, an increase of 100 million for the Glass of Milk Program was achieved," she said.

Within this framework, the president said that her administration speaks "through actions, deeds, and not with false words."

She also stated that the 12th Social Inclusion Week brings together different sectors to debate and exchange experiences regarding the program on poverty and food insecurity, which poses an enormous challenge that her government faces responsibly, bravely, and loving the homeland.
