Foreign Affairs Minister Elmer Schialer underscored that APEC Peru 2024 will bring significant investment opportunities for the host economy, thanks to the arrival of business leaders as part of delegations from various economies.

The high-ranking official said that, with this important multilateral event, the eyes of the world will be on Peru.

Likewise, the ambassador indicated that not only political leaders from Asia-Pacific economies are coming to Peru, but also business heads.

"There are delegations that come with up to 400 businesspeople to explore investment opportunities in our beloved country. You know that investment is what generates businesses, and businesses create jobs, and jobs bring us well-being," he expressed.

Likewise, Minister Schialer highlighted the efforts being made by President Dina Boluarte's government to ensure that the event is successfully held and remembered.

The government official indicated that this year, during the various activities held in Peru for the forum, 10 ministerial statements and five (5) technical documents have been approved, surpassing the number generated in previous editions. Thus, he said, "we are experiencing a very powerful APEC."

The diplomat also stated that, at the conclusion of APEC Peru 2024, three deliverables will be generated; the first will be a statement adopted by all member economies in favor of formalization.

This will be accompanied by a political statement from the leaders of economies, with the aim of transforming these into regulations to be adopted in their territories.

"And thirdly, which is no less important, is to take a fresh look at the creation of a free trade area across the Asia-Pacific region. Imagine a single free trade area that accounts for over 62% of world's GDP. This is something absolutely powerful and unprecedented," he added.

Lastly, The Foreign Affairs minister indicated that 19 economies have confirmed their participation so far, and 16 of them will be represented by their leaders.

Remarks were made on Wednesday evening at a press conference following the Council of Ministers session.
