President Dina Boluarte on Wednesday stated that Peru will promote cooperation among members of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) during the Presidency it receives today from Argentina.

Remarks were made during the opening speech of the 40th Session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), which is taking place in Lima until Friday, October 11.

"We will soon have the honor of receiving from Argentina the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Commission for the period 2025-2026. During its Presidency, Peru is committed to working decisively to foster cooperation among our countries and to coordinate (efforts) to continue advancing our development priorities," she expressed.

In this regard, the President indicated that Peru reaffirms its commitment to multilateralism, the United Nations System, and ECLAC, which is expressed in Peru hosting this meeting for the fourth time.

"I would like to express my gratitude to ECLAC for its constant support for Peru in various cooperation projects, sustainable and electronic commerce, estimates, and the formulation of investment projects," she pointed out.

Moreover, the Head of State underscored that ECLAC played an important role in the preparation of studies aimed at designing public policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.

"The 40th Session provides us with an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas of greater relevance in terms of economic and social development so as to reach conclusions that will guide governments in achieving tangible benefits," she stated.

The top official also emphasized that, despite adverse scenarios, Peru managed to return to the path of growth thanks to sound macroeconomic policies.

"Peru is a reliable partner in the eyes of the world; we remain firm and focused on boosting strategic sectors," she added.

It was founded with the purpose of contributing to the economic development of Latin America, coordinating actions directed towards this end, and reinforcing economic ties among countries and with other nations of the world.
