The Board of Supreme Prosecutors has elected Tomas Aladino Galvez as the new interim Attorney General, following the six-month provisional suspension of Delia Espinoza imposed by the National Justice Board (JNJ).

The information was confirmed by the Public Ministry on its official X account on Monday.

Delia Espinoza suspended

The measure against Espinoza was ordered by the JNJ on September 19, 2025, which decided her provisional suspension as a Supreme Prosecutor and as Attorney General.

The decision was made following a hearing that the magistrate did not attend, instead holding a press conference.

Supreme Prosecutors' Board meeting

Following the suspension, Supreme Prosecutor Pablo Sanchez assumed the position on an interim basis and subsequently convened a meeting of the Supreme Prosecutors' Board.

During the session, Sanchez declined to assume the leadership due to health reasons.

Zoraida Avalos also declined the assignment, even though both were next in line by seniority to assume the role.

The new interim head has been linked to investigations for alleged acts of corruption, including the "Los Cuellos Blancos del Puerto" (The Port's White Collars) case. He is attributed an alleged membership in said criminal organization.

In 2021, he was removed from the Public Ministry by the JNJ following disciplinary proceedings for serious offenses.

However, in April 2025, the Constitutional Court annulled the proceedings and ordered his reinstatement.

Galvez officially resumed his position last June, once again assuming the role of Supreme Prosecutor.
