Peruvian Ambassador Carlos Herrera presented his credentials to United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Director-General Audrey Azoulay, accrediting him as Peru's permanent representative to the organization.

During the audience, the director-general underscored the important role that Peru has played in the different spheres of UNESCO's mandate, especially in the culture sector.

Within the framework of the 1970 Convention, the authority referred to the work carried out by the South American country in the protection, recovery, and restitution of cultural heritage.

Likewise, she mentioned the next organization of Cusco Forum's third edition in 2025.

Furthermore, Peru's work in the region regarding the protection and promotion of intangible cultural heritage was highlighted, recalling the inclusion of Ceviche on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

She also expressed enthusiasm regarding the application of UNESCO's preparedness assessment methodology in Peru —a project that will contribute to implementing the 2021 recommendation on ethical issues related to the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
