With 2.42 million tons of anchoveta caught, more than US$1.41 billion in exports, and 49,000 jobs generated,
on Wednesday highlighted the government's efforts to boost the fishing sector in Peru.
This message was shared through an official post on the X platform.
"Good news for the fishing industry and the country's economy! With 2.42 million tons of anchoveta caught, over US$1.41 billion in exports and 49,000 jobs were generated. The Government is driving the development of the fishing sector in our country!" reads the post.
Additionally, a video attached to the message emphasized that this anchoveta catch represents one of the highest quotas in the past decade, driving employment and economic growth for thousands of Peruvians.
"Thanks to this effort, more than US$1.41 billion in exports and nearly 49,000 direct and indirect jobs were generated," the video stated.
It also explained that the season's closure ensures the sustainability of the resource by protecting spawning and marine biodiversity, thus securing the continuity of fishing activities.
Furthermore, it recalled that on February 3, President Dina Boluarte participated in the presentation of these achievements at the Callao megaport, "reaffirming the government's commitment to the fishing sector."
