The sustainable bond investment program by Peru's Development Bank (Cofide) will boost the national capital market's growth, Economy and Finance Minister Jose Arista affirmed on Tuesday.

"Not only does it represent progress in our sustainable development strategy, it also marks an important milestone in capital market evolution," he expressed at the green bonds presentation ceremony.

Similarly, Minister Arista said the objective is to strengthen Cofide as Peru's development bank and foster responsible financial practices aligned with environmental care.

"We are all concerned about the environment and climate change," Arista remarked.

In that regard, the government official said this new orientation for Cofide, through the launch of said program, responds to societal interests.

Minister Arista participated in the presentation of the sustainable bond investment program by Peru's Development Bank (Cofide), worth S/150 million (about US$39.65 million). It will be a catalyst for sustainable economic development.

"This program not only seeks to foster the issuance of sustainable bonds but also to strengthen the national capital market, as the main actor in attracting responsible investments, opening up spaces for more companies to come to our country with the possibility of accessing alternative financing," he asserted.

According to Cofide, the program is expected to be initially valid this year and allow for investing up to US$150 million in issuances, whose investment operations meet the required characteristics.
