Peru's Ambassador presents credentials, reaffirms friendship ties with Italy

Peruvian Ambassador Manuel Cacho-Sousa Velazquez presented to the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, the credentials that accredit him as Ambassador Plenipotentiary of Peru to the European country.

On the occasion, the diplomat conveyed to the Italian dignitary the cordial greetings from Peruvian President Dina Boluarte.

The envoy reaffirmed the Peruvian Government's desire to continue strengthening the ties of friendship and cooperation that unite both nations.

During the meeting, Ambassador Cacho-Sousa highlighted the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Peru and Italy.

Similarly, he welcomed the upcoming IV Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism in Lima, as well as the interest in raising the bilateral relationship to strategic level.

Furthermore, the Peruvian diplomat referred to the intense cultural link, which is proven through the numerous migrant communities hosted by both nations.

In this regard, the two authorities agreed on the importance of engaging in collaboration for their proper social and economic insertion.

In turn, President Mattarella expressed satisfaction with the important political, economic, and cultural relationship developed over these 150 years of bilateral ties.

Lastly, he stressed Italy's interest in deepening its bonds with Peru, which will also contribute to its relationship with Latin America.

This ceremony took place at the Quirinal Palace on July 1.
