A few days before the celebration of International Women's Day,
reaffirmed her commitment to continue working to break down the barriers that prevent the full exercise of female citizens' rights.
"We will continue fostering policies that guarantee a future in which every woman can thrive in a safe environment. Today, as we recognize these valuable compatriots, we also pay tribute to the brave women who preceded us and reaffirm that the progress of our nation depends on the full and active participation of all of us," she noted on Thursday.
During the presentation of the "Order of Merit for Women 2025," the Head of State said female citizens are the driving force of change, an example that inspires, and the hope for a future where equality is a reality.
"Women are not the weaker sex —that is a mistake— nor are we merely standing behind a great man. We are leaders and owners of our own destiny, and together, we strive for a present and a future with equity," she expressed.
The top official emphasized that the female citizens recognized with the 2025 Women's Merit Award empower and inspire, as they embody the strength and determination needed to advance on the path to equality.
"I am proud to see how, through their actions, they reaffirm the crucial role women play in society. Honors like today's allow us to highlight and make visible the transformative impact of women in Peru," she stated.
In this context, Mrs. Boluarte said the government is renewing its commitment to continue working tirelessly to ensure that Peruvian women achieve all their goals, in an environment of equal opportunities, free from discrimination and, above all, free from violence.
She noted that there has been a reduction in labor participation gaps between women and men in recent decades. However, a 13.8% gap still remains compared to the male participation rate in the labor market.
"The female employment rate stood at 60.3%, while the male rate was 74.1%. These numbers reflect progress but also remind us of the challenges that remain in achieving full equality in the workplace," she stated.
The President emphasized that female citizens' empowerment will be strengthened in 2025 through initiatives such as the National Strategy for Women Entrepreneurs, which promotes their full and active participation at all levels of economic activity.
"We know that the challenge is great and that there is still a long way to go in a world that often tries to silence or limit us simply for being women; however, we know that success is not measured by what we achieve, but by the obstacles we overcome," she concluded.
