The President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Monday led the ceremony marking the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho.

This activity took place at the Government Palace in the Peruvian capital, Lima. It started at 1:00 p.m. (local time).

December 9 marks the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho, an event that consolidated the independence of Peru and South America. In this regard, various activities are held to commemorate it.

Among the activities to take place for the corresponding commemoration, Peruvian Army members had been conducting rehearsals, within the framework of this bicentennial.

The ceremony takes place today at Pampa de la Quinua Sanctuary. More than 2,000 military personnel participate in the reenactment.

Three iconic monuments in Argentina will also be lit up in the Peruvian flag's red and white colors.
